Dr. Jake Becker, DMD Dr. Becker was born in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, where he lived until the age of seven. He grew up in California, Hawaii, Idaho, and Arizona. Dr. Becker received his B.S. degree in Biology from Arizona State University. After graduating from ASU, he moved to Portland to study dentistry at Oregon Health Sciences University, where he received his D.M.D in 2006. While living in Portland, Dr. Becker fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and his wife, Melissa. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Becker traveled to Burns, Oregon, to practice rural and community health-based dentistry. Although his time in Burns was relatively short, he found his dental care experiences to be extensive and rewarding. Dr. Becker moved back to Portland in 2007 and has practiced as an associate at Downtown Dental Associates ever since.Dr. Becker feels privileged to be in a profession that allows him the opportunity to positively affect the health and lives of people. Every dental patient is an individual with a specific set of needs. Dr. Becker takes pride in his ability and willingness to actively listen to each of his patients in order to provide the highest level of quality care possible. Dr. Becker practices comprehensive dentistry, including endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, removable dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, crown and bridge, implant-retained restorations, oral sedation, and preventative care. Dr. Becker strives to provide quality, compassionate and comfortable care to all of his patients. Dr. Thomas R. Osterlind, DDS Dr. Osterlind is a 1971 graduate of the University of the Pacific Dental School. He completed both a postgraduate hospital-based dental internship and a one-year anesthesiology residency at Oregon Health Sciences Center. He served on Anesthesia and Sedation Committees for the Oregon Board of Dentistry, American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He holds Fellowships in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists. He has served as a Fellowship examiner for the American Dental Society for Anesthesiology, and has chaired the Dental Education Council for the Academy of General Dentistry. Additionally, he has presided over the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry, the Multnomah Dental Society, and the Oregon Chapter of the American College of Dentists. In 1996, he was named Oregon Dentist of the Year. Dr. Osterlind maintains a practice philosophy based on one of empathy. "How would I feel if I were having this procedure done on me? What information would I like to know about my treatment options, and what would I elect to have or not have done? I offer my patients comprehensive care: treatment that will meet their individual needs and desires, and is focused toward both their immediate concerns and their long-term goals. This requires treatment options that are current in technology with a proven track record of success, and are delivered in a high quality and caring manner."His practice includes both comprehensive general dentistry and services for phobic, handicapped and special needs patients. He is in charge of sedation and anesthesia services within DDA. Dr. Osterlind and his wife, JoEllen, are parents of two grown daughters, and their families, two young grandchildren, and one very energetic Labrador. His outside interests include skiing, cycling, hiking and travel. |
Dr. Stephen J. Persichetti, DDS Dr. Persichetti traveled to Portland after graduation from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland. The purpose of his visit to Portland was to receive advanced training in general dentistry in a residency program at the Oregon Health Sciences University. After completing his year of residency, Dr. Persichetti joined the faculty at the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry. He has been an associate professor at the dental school since 1985. He joined Downtown Dental Associates in 1997. Dr. Persichetti continues to teach at the dental school one and a half days per week.Dr. Persichetti’s practice philosophy is based upon a desire to blend art, science and intuition to meet the treatment needs and personal concerns of his patients. His approach to dental practice is based upon an uncompromising concern and personal commitment to the welfare of his patients, dedication to quality, and innovation. Through his commitment to lifelong learning, Dr. Persichetti has come to understand when to embrace the latest dental technologies and when to choose the tried and true methods. His practice emphasizes all aspects of adult and children’s dentistry. Dr. Persichetti is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists. He is past president of the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry and served on many of the Academy of General Dentistry’s councils. He is affiliated with Donated Dental Services and treats many patients who could not otherwise afford dental care. Dr. Persichetti makes his home in Raleigh Hills with his wife and two daughters. |
Dr. John Rosenthal, DMD Dr. John Rosenthal received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene and his dental doctoral degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1976. Dr. Rosenthal holds Fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD); Academy of Dentistry International; and the American College of Dentists. In 1977, Dr. Rosenthal was named Oregon Dentist of the Year and in 2005 he received the National Distinguished Service Award from AGD. Dr. Rosenthal has served on various boards and in officer positions for the state and local dental society, state and national AGD, and OHSU dental school. Dr. Rosenthal sums up his dental practice philosophy with the following thoughts. “I want our patients to feel comfortable in our office. We try and treat you how we would want to be treated if we were the dental patient. I feel it is important that you, the patient, know what is happening in your mouth. If there are dental needs, you need to know your treatment options, if there is an advantage of one treatment over another and what the cost will be. We make every effort to be on time for your visit. We like to think of our patients as friends and part of our dental family. We make every effort to satisfy your dental needs and make your visit to our office a pleasant experience." Dr. Rosenthal is a third-generation Portland dentist. He and his wife, Barbara, have two grown children, Kristen and Ben. Dr. Rosenthal also has two grandchildren. When not involved in dental projects Dr. Rosenthal enjoys the outdoors, exercising, golf, travel, movies and being with his two grandchildren.
